Your Moving Questions, Answered

Everything you need to know before, during, and after your move — answered clearly and without the runaround.
What is the difference between local and long-distance moving?

Local moves typically stay within the same metro area or state and are billed by the hour. Long-distance moves cross state lines or exceed a set mileage threshold and are priced by weight and distance. Your coordinator will confirm which category applies to your job and walk you through the pricing structure before anything is scheduled.

Do I need to be present on moving day?

We strongly recommend it. Having someone on-site allows us to confirm item placement, answer questions as they come up, and get sign-off on the completed inventory. If you cannot be there in person, designate a trusted contact who can make decisions on your behalf and is available by phone throughout the day.

How do I get an accurate quote?

The most reliable way is to provide a detailed inventory of everything being moved, including any specialty items like pianos, safes, or oversized furniture. Photos or a walkthrough call help us give you a precise estimate. Vague item lists often lead to adjusted quotes on moving day, which we always want to avoid.

Can I pack my own boxes?

Absolutely. Many customers pack their own belongings and our crew loads, transports, and unloads them. Keep in mind that items packed by the customer are not covered under our standard liability policy. If you want full protection, our packing service ensures every box meets our handling standards and qualifies for coverage.

What size truck will be used for my move?

Truck size depends on the volume of your belongings and the distance of the move. We use 16 to 26-foot box trucks and select the right fit based on your inventory. In some cases, larger moves may require more than one trip or an additional vehicle — your coordinator will advise you in advance.

Do you charge extra for stairs or elevators?

We do not add hidden stair fees. If your move involves multiple flights or a building with elevator time restrictions, let us know when booking so we can account for it in the time estimate. Transparency up front means no surprise charges when the job is done.

How are fragile items handled during the move?

Fragile items are individually wrapped in protective blankets and shrink wrap before loading. Glassware, artwork, mirrors, and electronics receive extra padding and are positioned securely in the truck to prevent shifting. For exceptionally delicate or high-value pieces, we offer custom crating and white glove handling as an upgrade.

What if my move takes longer than the estimated time?

Billing continues at the same hourly rate for any time beyond the estimate. We always aim to finish within the window we provide, and our coordinators give conservative estimates so the final total rarely comes as a surprise. If anything changes on moving day that may affect timing, we will let you know immediately.

Can you move items into or out of a storage unit?

Yes. We regularly handle moves that involve storage units as an origin, destination, or intermediate stop. Let us know the unit size, location, and access details when booking so we can plan the route and crew accordingly.

Do you move plants or pets?

We are not able to transport live plants or animals. Plants can be damaged by temperature changes inside a truck, and pets require specialized care that falls outside our service scope. We recommend arranging separate transport for both well in advance of moving day.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept major credit cards, debit cards, and bank transfers. Payment is typically collected at the end of the job once the move is complete and you have had a chance to review the work. Your coordinator will confirm accepted payment methods and any deposit requirements when you book.

Can you move a full home in one day?

In most cases, yes. A standard two to four-bedroom home can typically be loaded, transported, and unloaded within a single day with the right crew size. Larger homes or moves involving long drives may require additional time. We will give you a realistic timeline estimate based on your specific inventory and distance.

What if I need to reschedule or cancel?

We understand that plans change. Contact us as early as possible if you need to adjust your date. Rescheduling is usually straightforward depending on availability. Cancellation policies vary based on how close to the move date the request is made — your coordinator will explain the terms clearly when you book.

Do your movers work on weekends and holidays?

Yes. Our crews are available seven days a week, including most major holidays. Weekend and holiday slots fill up quickly, especially during peak season, so we recommend booking those dates as early as possible to secure your preferred time.

How do you handle moves in bad weather?

We work in most weather conditions, including rain. Our crews use floor runners, door frame protectors, and extra wrapping to keep your belongings and property dry and protected. In the event of an extreme weather event or safety concern, we will contact you promptly to discuss options and rescheduling if needed.

Is tipping the movers expected?

Tipping is never required but is always appreciated when the crew does a great job. The standard range is ten to twenty dollars per mover for a local move, and more for long or especially demanding jobs. The best way to recognize the team is through a tip and an honest online review — both mean a lot to the people doing the work.
